Thanks DJ Johnny. I was born in Penketh and grew up in Sankey Bridges in the 60s and remember my Dad walking me down the banks of the canal and telling me the history. There used to be a pil box on the banks that was built for the home guard to defend an invasion from germany! The brook that the mill used to be on was nicknamed "stinking brook" for obvious reasons. Your video has brought back happy memories of growing up in the area. I think your videos are informative and inspirational of the town where we live. Keep up the good work! Sean Fenny

I explored the station area myself a couple years ago, found some remnants of the station masters house, but was a bit of a bugger to get to! Then, on to Latchford Railway Station, where I found a lot of the railway track still in situ, along with the supports for the station buildings and platforms!

Great video Johnny, have you done one including the coach and horses yet? I'd be interested to know it's history. 🤔🤓💜

The only Slitting Mill that I know of on the Sankey Canal is on the Blackbrook Branch in St Helens. Well worth a vist as it has all been exposed and you can see the replica water wheels.
