New Beatles Song Announced - My Thoughts

My thoughts on Paul’s announcement of the “final” Beatles song coming later this year. Apologies for mispronouncing Dhani Harrison’s name at the end, I don’t know where my head was.

I am really looking forward to this and hope they upgrade the anthology dvd's as well. Can't see them just releasing one song by itself. Guess we will wait and see. Glad you are back, take care!

Great to have you back again Matthew! I've been missing your videos! I hope all is well with you and your family! I think 2023 will turn out to be a great year for us Beatles fans. It's high time for a new McCartney Archive release, Giles Martin has in an interview told that he has been working on a remix of Rubber Soul and Help (Revolver is my favorite so far) and finally there is Paul's Wonderful Life musical. I agree with you on Paul's voice. One has to accept that Paul is 81 years old (on June 18th) and is beginning to sound his age. A new release from Paul is still quite an event. First time I attended a Paul McCartney concert was with Wings in Oslo in 1972 and the last time was in Bergen in 2016. He still delivers the goods.

I think the fact that George even worked on the song at all is telling that he initially had an open mind to the song. I can only assume that the tape hiss on the song was so audible that playing new instruments over the track and putting new vocals over it wasn't able to hide the defects as well as it did on 'Free as a bird" and "real love". That's probably what made George abandon the song. I think now that the vocals and piano can be separated with the AI and the tape hiss removed, it allows so much more freedom than could be done in the previous two tracks. Now you can apply vocal effects to the vocals only and piano effects to the piano only and they can be EQ'd separately. They can turn the piano down and let John's vocal be heard clearer than ever. This song really does have a lot of potential.

I thought the Yellow Dog bootlegs were better than the Anthologies. That said, "Real Love" aged gracefully. I played it on the 25 year anniversary and it was great.

I've just heard the demo and it does sound very promising to say the least. The problem with the demo is that John's voice is burried in the mix, so if they can fix this, we can expect wonderful things. ~Marjet

Have you heard a John Lennon demo called INDIA, I believe it's on Utube, I think John Lennon recorded it in his house husband years ?. Well there is a version of the song with a full band ect, and I think it's just an amazing song, I wish Yoko would let it be released. Well I am going to make myself a coffee and some cookies. Lennon thought Obla-di was rubish, but it still made it on to the album.

Welcome back Matthew & my own personal opinion on the new Fabs song is i've always been happy with any new Beatles content but this time if it is the song George Harrison rejected for Anthology 3 i'm surprised Paul wants it released now!! Will it be released as a stand alone single or is there another Anthology in the Time will tell i suppose!
