30,000,000 Block Render Distance in Minecraft?!

Показать описание
This was done using an experimental mod called FarPlane2 which adds levels of detail to the game. Blocks thousands of blocks away from the player may just be rendered with 1 or 2 triangles, whereas blocks close up get the full amount. That lets the world generate pretty fast, and also helps with not exploding my computer, which I like!

Please note before you download it that FarPlane2 is in pre-pre-pre-alpha. It has too many bugs to be stable at the moment, and I do not recommend using it on any worlds you care about—you hear that for other mods in development, but this warning is actually merited. Please don't treat this mod as the finished product, and definitely join DaPorkchop's Discord server to keep up with its progress.

Imagine looking at the 1:1 world recreation project with this mod.

Now our modding equipment is sufficiently advanced, we now know that a Minecraft world looks sort of like wet gravel.

"That's it. We're looking at the entire Minecraft world."
Just a reminder that entire Minecraft world is 8 times bigger than entire planet Earth

Don't give flat earthers ideas now.
Obviously, Minecraft is a rhombic dodecahedron.

When you said “this is it, you’re looking at the entire Minecraft world” I got chills.

I know it’s just a game but there’s a reason Minecraft is the most popular game ever. Something about seeing the whole world, in all it’s grainy-ness, is just truly beautiful.

Minecraft really does need an LOD system, it would make low render distance MP servers feel much bigger and comfortable to walk around in.

Ok this is amazing and impressive

The whole monecraft world is so small and yet so huge, it's beautiful to see it all like that

Imagine using this with one of those realistic terrain generation mods such as Terraforged.

I love the outer wilds music, have to say it everytime someone uses it in their videos, you have a great taste.

Also, very interesting topic, ill try this

Imagine mojang implementing something like this in the vanilla Minecraft. It generates a small amount of every chunk in the entire world and then uses LODs to render out an entire Minecraft world on minimal CPU and GPU. This could be implemented into servers, and anarchy worlds like 2B2T can be seen in it's full glory.

That... that nudged up against something. That hit hard. A world so unspeakably immense, so vast that mathematically speaking, it would be impossible for a single human being to see its every nook and cranny, so wide that only a handful of people have ever made it to the edge on foot... so incredibly, incredibly small. I feel like this is going to trigger an existential crisis in me when I go to bed tonight.

When looking at 1:1scale and every blue dot is a whole ocean and every color is a different biome. Amazing

I wish Minecraft can actually use this type of rendering

I feel like this should be in vanilla Minecraft. They haven’t had lower resolution textures and the works for Minecraft, despite literally almost every other game using them, and it makes it so you can’t render as far of a distance as most video games.

This is awesome! Always had that idea in mind, but I never thought someone would make a video about it, thanks!

now imagine if the LODs were rendered at a higher quality when you zoom in, or even smartly renders cube chunks natively to see distant animals or players

This feels awesome.
Minecraft will no longer be claustrophobic.

I first saw the 30, 000, 000 block distance in the title and said "Well, that's kinda normal" (I have heard of the mod before).
Then I saw that that's the entire Minecraft world.
WOAH.
