Lyrics:
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
'Til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then
Again would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with

He wrote this when he found out his wife was pregnant.. he wrote it for his soon to be son... He died when his son was only 13 months old.. scary thing is the song is about not having enough time with his son... Gives one chills

My big brother was so protective of me and always looked after me growing up, even into adulthood. He spent his entire life alone. And then, in his 50’s, he got cancer. Having nobody to care for him and facing homelessness and cancer I moved him in with me to care for him. During that final 2 years of his life, he shared so many family memories with me and taught me so much, especially about God. Before he left this world, he left a folder on his computer for me to find after he’d gone. It contained a lot of his favorite music. Very personal songs that made him think of his family, and many of which reminded him of his baby brother. This was one of those songs.

I’m 56 now. The same age my brother was when I lost him 8 years ago. This song will forever remind me of Tony. Man, I wish I could have just one more day with him.

A little backstory Jim Croce wrote this song when he was 30 before he died as part of an album but when he died the album was incomplete so it was released as a single... And it became his greatest hit RIP Jim

My husband used to sing this to me. He passed 5 weeks ago and I hear this song in my head at least 7 times a day. I feel it’s him reminding me. We were married 51 years.

My dad was childhood friends with Jim. They went to school together. He still cries when one of his songs comes on the radio.

He preformed this song only 1 month before his death.

This was our wedding song on July 6, 1974. Today we are celebrating our 48th anniversary. It’s been wonderful!

My dad used to sing this to my mom. It's bittersweet to listen to now. He's been gone for seven years. Miss the old man

Gosh... this is so heartbreaking. This was my father's fave Jim Croce's song before he died from pancreatic cancer. Now, this song hits on another different intensity since I learned yesterday that my mom's cancer is stage 4 and she has less than a year.

Update: My mom passed away 1 week after I posted my first comment. 😞😞😞

His strong wife allowed us to hear this song. He loved her so. So happy to being a father . Thank Mrs Croce for releasing this song after the horrific helicopter crash. Had she not been strong and knew his fans wanted to hear it we would have never known how sensitive loving and just adored his wife and child. Again thank you Mrs Jim Croce. We all love you

This song says perfectly how i feel about my son and daughter ❤watching them grow and learn, where does time go? In the blink of an eye they've grown into incredible adults, yet sometimes when i see them, a kalidescope of memories and their laughter fills my mind and heart, brings tears to my eyes ❤

This song rips my heart out ever time I hear it….my mind races wide open about all the special people in my life…passed friends and relatives…but then I end up humming it for hours after the initial gut wrench. I would love to know his emotional response when he wrote and finished it the first time. It’s a masterpiece.

Love this song, the lyrics, the guitar, the voice. I'm old enough to remember when this was in the radio station cycle. Great music never dies.

This song reminds me of my dad. Unfortunately he was a lost soul who died young from the effects of alcoholism. Dad, I forgive you....and you didn't lose. I'm gonna carry that torch for both of us.
