Thank you Fed Chair Powell for keeping rates up. You're one of the few in the government maintaining sanity and being responsible with finances.

Much damage was done to our economy by artificially low rates

Powell wasn't just talking about the pandemic rates. He referred to post GFC as well.

They also said inflation was transitory 🙂

To protect the reserve currency status of the dollar, the US will need to have elevated interest rates indefinitely, at least in relation to other G7 currencies.

Just a reminder: over the last 60 years the 10 yr T-note averaged 5.9% and the average inflation rate was 3.8%. So even with the higher prints we've seen we are back down below the averages. We are basically back to normal. It just doesn't feel that way when "easy" was all you've ever known coming out of the Bush housing recession.

I didn't know it until recently, but if you look at a chart of the federal interest rates going back to the 1960's, interest rates are still relatively low right now. They only seem high because since the crash in 2008, they've been extremely low, and that's what we got used to. They peaked around 20% in the early 80's. So as difficult as it seems to buy a house with such high interest rates, we really don't have much to complain about.

In the US, it's really the 10 year and the Fed doesn't control the 10 year. That is very low based on historical averages and given the inflation prints we have been seeing. If we were back to "normal, " the 10 year would be more like 7%.

Powell is a wise, and noble man. Hopefully Trump does the right thing when he gets a second term.

Are you working only for America or only for the rich upper class? Why do countries around the world, other than the United States, continue to use policies that turn your neighbors into beggars?

How anyone listens to this habitual liar is beyond me. Everything he’s said about inflation has been a lie. “Inflation is transitory” come on people. I know your attention spans are that of an ant but think hard
