Sardinia is an extraordinarily beautiful island with a rich history, beautiful mountains and seacoast, a stable economy, a rich culture, and excellent educational opportunities. Sardinia is only 90 miles wide so even smaller communities are close to the sea. Sardinia has the highest percentage of people living to 100 or beyond, however although the proportion of centenarians in the population is twice the rate considered normal for the rest of the world, getting old in Sardinia is not the same as in many other countries--old people are much younger and healthier than elsewhere in the world. (I have spent time in Sardinia, and have close friends there)

Similar deal in central Italy: you can get a house in rural villages for 1 euro as long as you plan to take care of it and spend some time there. It's a nice deal for retirees that want to spend they retirement in Italy, there's also free health care.

Small villages can't function without a certain amount of people, so they rather give away some unused houses for free instead of killing services for the remaining populations.

So the Sardinia grant given to people isn't likely to got to people over the age of 50, because they want the young to move there with money and the ability to create their own work and lifestyle, since, there's nothing there to keep the young around.

i look at prices in sardinia and houses start from 200k ...

that's just amazing but my next question is after get the 15k, buy the house how will you survive ? what kind of job/ business ? just getting money for the house is not enough 'cause i got to eat so i assume that if you move to there you should have some EUROS by yourself in the Bank right ?

But that's not what they are doing, right?
In fact, they are paying for strangers to come in someone else's stead. And that is just fighting the symptoms of young people leaving.
