With a great name comes great responsibility. Charles’ decision to stick to his name as he is proclaimed King signifies that he plans to carry on the legacy behind the historical name. While Charles II was called a merry monarch and oversaw many changes to Britain, Charles I was notorious for being an absolute ruler. Now, as the world welcomes a new King, Charles’ ascension to the throne will determine how he plans to shape the royal household to manage current public expectations. Will he live up to his regnal name and rise to the challenge?

Charles is a better looking older gentleman than he was as a young man. He lost that goofy look. He’ll be a good King. I’m glad he finally got his chance to fulfill his destiny. The Monarchy is in good hands, after Charles, William and Catherine will be excellent then George will finish out the century. God Save the King.

Charles III didn't "take over" the Crown. It wasn't a coup d'etat. He acceded. Big difference.

King Charles III did the right thing by keeping the name he has been called for 73 years.

If the name Charles was considered a bad omen (because of king Charles I), why was he named Charles in the first place?

Charles is going to be a great King! And his son will be even better! Their family is strong and filled with duty to serve. God save the king and guide the Royal family for many generations to come. Brits, hold on to your traditions, they matter, they make a difference.

Just a guess: what if he simply chose to stay with his given name as a sort of homage to his late mother? So no real connection with either king. But it's just a guess

Very interesting documentary about the Majestic Charles'. Wellingtons, suit and tie and a walking stick...Not many people can pull that off but he can.

We could have had a King Arthur... that would have been a great choice as an Environmentalist.

There are so many glaring errors in this documentary’s narration. They refer to the first Charles as marrying Princess Henrietta Maria of France rather than Spain. That’s just one example of several inconsistencies. Very shoddy. It’s a shame as it undermines the experts they’ve interviewed.

King Charles the Third of the Carolean age is my age, both born towards the end of 1948, post WW2! So I've been following him in the media for decades! I hope his reign is a great one despite probably being a short one until he steps down and passes it over to Prince William and Princess Catherine of Wales! I watched his investiture in Wales when both he and I were 20 years old and laugh now ever since learning that that small ball on top of his crown was a ping pong ball painted gold! LOL "God Save the King" and a slimmed down more modern monarchy! Cheers from Yankee New England where we have historic towns and cities named after the ones in the UK, like Boston, Plymouth, Cambridge etc. and still have some English traditions like English teas and a restaurant chain called "The British Beer Company"! ♥🍺🫖👑💜

Clearly a missed opportunity. He could have been King Arthur. The man isn't made for the legend.

When one compares Charles II to his cousin, Louis XIV, it's amazing how closely related they were, how must they were alike. And not just by their wigs!
How they both loved the company of and adventures with women! Biggest difference was how they spent their money: Louis wasted his on wars while Charles had to be careful with Parliament's appropriations and that made him more prudent.

By God's command alone: on Saturday 6th May 2023; in Westminster Abbey; without any need of crystal balls; the entire world will witness those two entities, and all those who support them, taking on their destined roles; merrily ushering in the incunabula of the final days of the once highly esteemed British Monarchy.
