The older I get the more I appreciate the robust and simple things in life. The Niva certainly lives up to that formula.

Working in Sakhalin in the early 2000s we used to use Toyota Landcruisers and drive around in pairs on longer trips. We’d end up using winches etc for difficult terrain and invariably wherever we ended up going there would be a Lada Niva that had made the journey without breaking a sweat. The company even ended up acquiring a fleet of purple 5 door versions of the Niva for use as backup vehicles rather than sending two landcruisers we had a Niva follow on behind and they never had any problems.

If you are interested in the opinion of a Russian, then Niva is the best car ever made by the russian auto industry. It's actually very passable and it's almost impossible to get stuck on it in rough terrain.

Many use Niva as dacha-car, something to fetch groceries and go to a picnic outside of cities and main roads. It's so simple, it's like a bicycle.

In Serbia we say: Lada Niva goes where mountain goat can't 🙂

I had a Lada Cossack back in 1989 in the UK, modified version of the Niva. Solid little thing, better in snow than a Land Rover. 9 years of reliable service, loved the cold weather. Russia makes some darn good off road vehicles, just look at the old Soviet army trucks & modern Russian vehicles. Get one Sam, just remember take out the back seats for more luggage capacity.

I can't buy a Lada Niva 4x4 in Colorado but would love to. It was always my favorite Russian car since my first visit to Russia in 1994. We just adopted a Anatolian - Great Pyrenees mix puppy and named her "Lada" Hope to meet you some day Sam. My wife is from Saratov and we will want to visit Anapa and Gelendzhik in the future.

3 doors Niva is one of the nicest car designs in the world. Btw when the first Lada Niva appeared, it was the first small SUV in the world. AvtoVaz had invented this segment.

Niva is a right choice, man. Living in Russia and not having a russian car is a mistake. Thank for your inspiring videos.😅

Lada were popular cars here in Iceland and my first car was a Lada. Now they don't exist anymore but every now and then I see old Lada and mainly Lada sports. I want a Lada again.

When I was working as a refrigeration contractor in Nigeria in the 80s these little 4x4s were very popular. Outside the cities the roads were just dirt tracks so for those who could afford it a Lada Niva was the 1st choice. Relatively cheap, durable and repairable by local mechanics.

Sell the Porsche and get a 5-door Niva. -It's all the car you'll ever need.

Lada Niva "Sam edition" 😆, seriously, if Lada has continued to follow the old design and construction canons, are endless cars as well as Uaz.
My dear friend’s uncle has it, he uses it to go hunting, it doesn't stop against nothing (puddles, uneven surfaces). Has nothing to envy to Western and Japanese brands, even going as far to overtaking them under certain extreme conditions.
In practice embodies the russian spirit, strong and resilient, unstoppable.

Sam made me laugh when he said I have a Porsche that’s 15 years old that breaks down all the time and I Love It! 😂 The Lada is a nice looking car! I’d buy one in a heartbeat here in central Cali!

The two door Lada looks like the US Jeep. Get the long 4 door version of the Lada, Sam. You should get something you can sleep in. There wil be times when you don't want to set up a tent because of weather, time constraints, or fear of bears. There also may be times when there is "no room at the inn". When you are not travelling, and at home, you can use the long version to haul stuff. You might even consider a van. I personally wouldn't dream of exploring Russia, Central Asia, and Siberia without a vehicle I could sleep in.
