Gas THIEVES target gas stations and your car, these tank drilling bandits can make anyone angry!
Gas prices and crime are on the rise. Car owners from New York to California, and other states have reported instances of theft by criminals drilling holes into their gas tanks in order to drain and steal the gas. This is not only dangerous it leaves you holding the bill for the repair. You would think that high-riding cars and trucks, like pick ups and SUVs, are more susceptible to fuel tank drilling because they have more space underneath for criminals to work. But criminal will find a way and they have. What should you look out for and what can you do?

If you have additional questions, put them in the comments below and I'll be happy to answer.

This is sad, we are all hurting for money in this current climate smh. One person struggling stealing from another person struggling is so depressing. It's hard for a blue collar worker to make it with insurance and taxes and low pay and gas prices and family etc. Something has to be done a destress this situation, the us has MANY oil reserves for many reasons and should have to by law lower gas prices to give back to the people who have made this companies and govt. Officials rich. It always seems to be a "your on your own" approach when you get taken advantage of but our taxes pay their bills...where is the love? Thanks for this Lauren 😊👍

I remember it happened during the Obama year too, and the gas was like $5.5 a gallon back then.

If it's not one thing, it's another. Ever since this pandemic has gone on for too long, thieves have been having a death wish as of they have nothing better else to do.

In all honesty, calling the police would be too little too late because you're/we're going to be footing the deductible from your insurance when it was not even your fault, just like the catalytic converter crime.

If that's a costly repair, why not just have the insurance cut a check to total the car out completely? With the labor shortage for OEM replacement parts and labor shortage of workers to fix a car, why waste the time and go through the stress and headache of repairs on your budget especially in this extreme time of inflation going on?

Cameras are no good if they thief is wearing a mask and hoodie. Keep your car in the garage. Best way to avoid this is to buy an EV. No gas and no cataliter converter
