Momus: Continuity Girl

You put the set in order now
Do your best to make things look the same
Though we shoot the scenes on different days
Was the ashtray an inch more full of ash?
The daffodils wilted slightly more?
Get the instant hair dye, spray them brown

You're the continuity girl, you
Make the things in my life
Stay the way they've been
Though we know time can be cruel, you'll
Smooth the change away
From scene to scene

Was my hair this full last season?
Did my skin have freckles then?
They became the liver spots of age
But you've got all the tricks of the trade to
Make the anomalies fade away
Make the illusion nothing's wrong

You're the continuity girl, you
Make the things in my life
Stay the way they've been
Though we know time can be cruel, you'll
Smooth away the change
From scene to scene

Does anybody still remember me
The way I used to look in Season 3?
If they changed the actor now would anyone even care?
You could make the new guy look just like me

You're the continuity girl, you
Make the things in my life
Stay the way they've been
Though we know time can be cruel
You’ll smooth the change away
From scene to scene

You collect the Polaroids of the sets
The bed with the underwear
Apparently casually strewn around
Your reconstruction’s so exact
Who could guess
So many years have really passed

Does anybody still remember me
The way I used to look in Season 3?
If they changed the actor now would anyone even care?
You could make the new guy look just like me

You're the continuity girl, you
Make the things in my life
Stay the way they've been
Though we know time can be cruel, you'll
Smooth the change away
From scene to scene

I cannot and will not stop dancing to this. Sublime, an experience as always 💜 Praise goes to the marvelous one who inspired this as well

Beautifully, irrisitably smooth and harmonious, love the use of the falsetto, chill and catchy, quite lovely indeed :)

I don't usually like Tracey Emin but I quite liked her recent 'blood-dripping' paintings at the White Cube actually. Tho I suspect she isn't who you're referring to...

I have to wonder if you make these songs appear in mornings, afternoons or evenings?
