That’s why the first line Howl says to Sophie is “I’ve been looking everywhere for you” (or something like that). Because he wasn’t lying to help Sophie out of an uncomfortable situation, he was literally looking for her.

Oh. My. God!
The thing is, I‘m German and the first time I watched this I was about five years old. In German Sophie said „Wait for me in the future“ instead of „Find me in the future“ so as a child I was always like „Girl, that guy has been WAITING for you for ages!“ but now that I watched this short and know that in fact Howl has not only been waiting but actively LOOKING FOR HER all this time makes my heart hurt of admiration.

Seriously…I gotta find a dude with this amount of determination and make him my freaking husband!🤯

Ahh yes some people missed the the part at the ending that sophie literally said to house to come find him so thats why howl tried to find Sophie he wasn't exactly sure since well its the younger version of sophie not the cursed Sophie who grew old

Fun fact thats why merry go round of life was played when they met at the parade because yeah it just went back to the cycle where howl find sophi sophi was cursed and they lived together while sophie told howl in the past to come find her at the field before getting swallowed by the ground thus resetting the movie for howl ending him finding Sophie when he grows up ♻️

That is also why Howl introduce to her the place where he stays when he was little because he know that it is where Sophie will see the truth about his past. And remember when Sophie is aking Calcifer how to help Howl, Calcifer said that she needs to know it by herself. And the fact that he let Sophie stays on their house is because he knew also that she is the one who can help Howl. Oh I just love this movie 🥺💖

I watch Howl’s Moving Castle every year and knew it from the beginning that he’s been searching for her since the day he saw her fall into the ground.

Did you know that the reason Calcifer came back is not because it started to rain or he missed them. Calcifer the demon too had fallen in love with Sophie. Remember he had Howl’s heart. So he felt what Howl felt and Vice Versa.
Also, Howl knew from the beginning that the old woman from the marsh was Sophie cursed and one who would break his curse.

For all the ghibli movie enjoyers the scene where Sophie falls after being sucked into the ground is also interesting. I went on a binge watching spree and watched Laputa before howls moving castle and noticed that the island Patsu and Sheeta sees under Laputa is the same one that Sophie falls over. It’s such an interesting connection!

That thing about the ring made me realize something just right now. When they're escaping Kingsbury, and Howl tells Sophie to go back to the castle, he tells her to call to it with her heart. He's telling her to call to his heart with hers. His heart belongs to her, and hers to him, and so they will always be able to find each other.

In the book… he is a player. And the soldiers lines in the movie are actually what he said to Sophie. Howl was a creep when they first met, and Sophie shrugged him off and told him she was busy; No woman until then had “Resisted his charms”(🙄) so he became enthralled with sophie…. And tried to date her sister 👍👍👍
