The thing I hate about film school and Hollywood in general is the self congratulatory pat on the back style most people have about it, yeah you make movies that doesn’t mean you get to have a better opinion about storytelling or how people watch films. Sometimes normal people can make greater art than people who “dedicated” their lives to it

Horror movies, I always loved how some of the best horror movies were made cheap, and that all you need is a good crew, script, and felling for horror to understand how to make the next great, and btw love the channel!

I had a subject called Introduction to Film while I was studying for Bachelor of Arts in Communication. I remember the time my groupmates casting me as the antagonist for a short film Switch, which was an inspiration to Split according to one of my groupmates.

It was my first time acting and I was nervous about it, although people say my acting was great especially the part where I was laughing like a maniac that scared some of my classmates😂

Yeeee! I’m entering junior year aiming at a BFA in Film and a minor in BUISNESS! But yeah I can tell the valuable lessons are in learning to work with people in a creative and social capacity. The content is useful but the context is even more so. The majority of the info taught is freely available online but learning it with people and practicing it with the same people towards the same goal is truest motivating and encouraging.

I always tell folks that when I finally get to start making movies, I want to start with a horror movie. It takes place at a university (probably in Michigan since I’m from there, too), and would be a creature feature about a chimera. There’d be some obvious homages to ‘The Faculty’ due to the similar setting, but I’d really be paying my respects to ‘The Relic’, as it features my favorite horror monster of all time, the Kothoga.

When I spoke with Brendan Steere (The Velocipastor), he recommended film school for the experience of using the equipment and just learning to use film as a storytelling medium.

I'm currently in Film School and I have a mixed reaction. You're right, meeting people and networking is the most valuable part of it. Getting to use higher-end equipment is also pretty nice too. What I would complain about is that I wish we went out more and filmed rather than a lot of lectures.

The farthest my film school education went was high school. I had a fun four years in that program which sadly doesn’t exist anymore. The program never got the support it deserved from the high school I went to. Anyway one of the main things I gained from there is the appreciation for the time and effort filmmakers put into their films no matter how good or bad the end product turns out to be. I did take part in a few independent film projects in my later years the last project I was apart of was a short horror film called, “The Party.” I believe.

I would make a horror-superhero movie based off Fantomah, Mystery Woman of the Jungle. She was the first female superhero in comics.
