Samothrace Greece Samothrace Town
Samothraki Town, or Chora, is tucked into the mountain 6km above the port, Kamariotissa. It was built here to avoid pirate raids in the Medieval ages. It is a lovely capital with narrow streets that wind through the hillside town. Tavernas, cafes, shops and some hotels and rooms to let are located here, as well as the ruins of a castle and the Folklore Museum. Charming fact: the houses here are built in such a way as to not block sunlight to neighboring houses and buildings.
