This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.

This Core Concept video focuses on A.J. Ayer's work of logical positivism, Language, Truth, and Logic, and examines in particular the examples that he provides in chapter 1 of philosophical positions, beliefs, or assertions he calls nonsense.

My videos are used by students, lifelong learners, other professors, and professionals to learn more about topics, texts, and thinkers in philosophy, religious studies, literature, social-political theory, critical thinking, and communications. These include college and university classes, British A-levels preparation, and Indian civil service (IAS) examination preparation

Dr Sadler, do not take that as an insult, but I am relieved to see that I am not the only one visibly getting older.

Oh, this is great stuff.
I recently learned about the Grelling-Nelson paradox, and I think this confirms not only some things about the weaknesses in our languange, but also common belief in logic and truth. I seems like philosophical rationalism got it all backwards somehow, exactly from the disposition between _having_ properties and _being_ in existence?

Damnit Ayer's yucking my Hegel. And the former is so much easier to understand.
