How to Enable or Disable Numerical Sorting in Windows Explorer
Enable or Disable Numerical Sorting in Group Policy
1. Open the all users, specific users or groups, or all users except administrators Local Group Policy Editor for how you want this policy applied.
2. In the left pane, click/tap on to expand User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, and Windows Explorer (Windows 7) or File Explorer (Windows 8).
3. In the right pane, double click/tap on Turn off numerical sorting in Windows Explorer (Windows 7) or Turn off numerical sorting in File Explorer (Windows 7) to edit it.
4. Do step 5 or 6 below for what you would like to do.
5. To Enable Numerical Sorting
A) Select (dot) either Not Configured or Disabled, and go to step 7 below.
6. To Disable Numerical Sorting
A) Select (dot) Enabled, and go to step 7 below.
6. Click/tap on OK.
7. Close the Local Group Policy Editor window.
