I am 78 years old. My parents always had blessed candles. I remembered candlemass day when I was young. When ever there was a storm, my Mom would light the blessed candles. I have blessed candles in my home! I use them when there are storms.

“If you have the faith to get the candles, God will provide the light.”

As a beekeeper and Beeswax candle maker I can also add this:
-The light from the flame of a beeswax candle most closely resembles the spectrum of light from the Sun (amazing).
-Beeswax is conceptualized as "stored sunlight" so that what wax bees store in Spring/Summer months, the light can then be "released" again or made manifest again in the darkness of Winter.
-Beeswax also cleans the air when burned, producing negative ions, eliminating toxins, unlike petroleum-based candles that leave byproducts.
-There is also a good deal of Catholic mysticism around honeybees (will try to find the source): all workers are virgins, all working for the community and giving of self for betterment of hive.

Padre Pio spoke of the three days of darkness to my mother's friend who was married by Padre Pio. He gave the couple two beautiful, blessed candles for their wedding gift.

The Lord says not to be afraid. He always makes a way where there is no way.

When I was young ( many years ago) we always had blessed candles in the house. We would light them if the Priest came to bring Communion to someone that was sick, or when there was a thunderstorm raging outside, etc.. It wasn't all that long ago that every Catholic would have blessed beeswax candles for just such occasions.

I felt compelled to share with my 4 kids, I told them that the reason is not to scare them, but if the day of darkness comes and bizarre things are happening in the sky, if I order the kids into the house and start lighting candles, they know why and I’m not standing in the front lawn having to explain everything in that moment when I need expedience.

A prayer to be recited during the 3 days of chastisement: I hail, adore & embrace you, adorable cross of my saviour. Protect us, guard us, save us. Jesus loved you so much. After his example, I do love you. May your holy image appease my fears! Let me experience nothing but calm and confidence! Amen

I heard Ray mentioning that what if darkness falls when he was driving? I read in one of the private revelations that God will send his angels to his faithful & administer them to reach them safely to their shelter. So I count on this as another miracle.

Incidentally, bees make beeswax out of nectar/honey. How could there be a better wax?
Anyway, support a beekeeper and buy beeswax candles.

In Polish tradition on February 2nd, we come to church with candles and have them blessed. My grandma used to light them up and keep by the window during the summer storms.
By the way: those candles that are lighted up during baby's baptism, in Polish tradition were kept the whole life and were supposed to be lighten up when someone was dying. When my dad was dying in the ICU in Poland, in January 2020, his doctor asked nurses to liggt up a candle called gromnica. My heart simply melted from a gratitude toward this amazing lady.

Yes! Pray the Rosary and if you are having a hard time praying it, ask the Blessed Mother to help you. She wants us to pray the Rosary so it stands to reason that she will help. She will give you the graces you need🙏🏼

I'm 64. I remember in the older churches the beeswax candles with the sand underneath (to prevent fires). The newer churches have the electronic lighting ( you push a button)
There is nothing wrong with the old traditions, we should go back. Great deal of spiritual comfort in the old ways JMHO

And by the way, bees wax candles are said to purify the air, so if during the 3 days of darkness, no one can go outside because they will die from the air, it could mean that by having blessed beeswax candles inside - apart from purifying the air of demons it may also make it breathable in your home.

Man, I am loving this series! Can't wait for the Illumination of Conscience talk. I read about all this so many years ago, but no one has talked about it like this.
Thank you Taylor and Ray! God's Peace.

I was told that when you light the candle, you pray and ask Gods blessings and it will light. Pray without stopping. The candle can be blessed by self, as long as you ask Jesus and the Holy Spirit to provide the light and protection.

At my church we have Traditional mass and the candles on the altar are blessed. When they got short our priest would let me have some, 6! I had a basket full of candles blessed on Candlemass this past year. I will be sharing them. I believe the Holy Spirit will light the candles. No match or lighter required.

Along with blessed candles, holy water, crucifixes, rosaries, my mom and grandmother always taught us to keep blessed palms, from Palm Sunday, by the doors or windows. When I was a kid, I remember my mom and grandmother would use the palms to bless the house during a strong storm. Every time shortly after that the storms would calm down.
