Amazing insights. First time I have heard gold allocaton to be half the age. And it hit me so well, makes total sense. Also, the insight on how Japan and China would view Gold.

I think the disdain for Gold as a passive non earning investment is a deliberate overhang from western media to justify Bretton Woods breakdown. After all western banks were mandated to keep selling gold for the following two decades to artificially suppress prices.

Hello Alok,
1. When you show graphs can you also add a pine script to include the CAGR above the label or on the mid of graph (of course if graph is >1y). This will really help to visualize. Remeber : TV Charts sessions....
2. You could have also given some inputs on where to invest in Gold - ETF, Physical-Jewellery, Coins), SGB, etc etc. Not in what percentage but what avenues are there.
3. Why you say Age/2 as allocation percentage. Gut feel, belief, inflation analysis/sentiment etc etc I mean how did you get this number.

I never viewed metals as an investment, but I always saw it as a great way to save your cash & retain the value from when you bought it. It’s not hard to turn it to liquid cash, and it beats letting inflation destroy your savings

Though small in amount, I have 50% in non-ornamental gold investment. Logic is same as u said, only Gold protects the value. If 250grams of gold can buy me a decent house in year 2000, even today also same 250grams gold can given decent house in similar developed town. And Gold is the safest investment than a house that has other recurring expenses.

I have major allocation to gold now. ever since I’ve been invested in weekend all cap strategies, I needed a asset that can provide better returns with less volatility. This perfectly hedged these small cases. Now i get why he focusses so much on gold, trying to save us from himself only 13:55.
