What is TECH Clean California?

TECH Clean California is a state-wide initiative designed to accelerate the adoption of clean space and water heating technologies—aka heat pumps and heat pump water heaters—in California homes. TECH Clean California heat pump rebates are currently available for single-family homes. Households can claim a $1,000 rebate per system for new heat pump HVAC systems, with up to two incentivized systems per home for a total of $2,000 when replacing a gas appliance.

To qualify for rebates, your heat pump must be installed by a certified TECH Clean California contractor. There are over 1,000 certified TECH contractors enrolled in the program, and you can find a qualified contractor fast with the Clean Energy Connection’s free online directory.
