CHSR needs to prioritize the southern leg since Brightline West’s Las Vegas segment jumpstarts high speed rail in Southern California. The sooner we can connect to the possible Palmdale corridor means more passenger usage for Central Valley residents to Las Vegas.

I'm wary of that one suggestion by a board member to explore alternatives to tunneling at Pacheco and Tehachapi pass. That could only mean a longer route and steeper grades pushing the 2 hr 40 minute SF to LA target travel time even further out of reach. Just because it's something Brightline West might consider doesn't make it a good idea. Brightline West is proposing a single track mainline after all and it's the year 2023. I would rather see CHSR stick to the proposed routing and temporarily infill gaps between the IOS and bookends at north and south with coordinated bus services. Over time those gaps will get shorter and shorter.

Brightline has stated they are leasing the center of I15 from caltrans. Idk why she keeps saying free. Just because a private company does it better and smarter than you doesnt mean you can blatantly lie.
