Great comparison, especially the last Vespa shots :)) Many thanks!!

Provia seems to have green tint shadows, while Velvia has magenta tint shadows. That's how I could tell them apart anyway.

Great comparison!
Something you can tell from looking at your side-by-side comparison, is Provia's slightly wider latitude in comparison to that of Velvia's, which may translate into having (or not) blown out highlights, IMO.

I could immediately tell which scooter pic was shot with Provia. The grass in the foreground had a much nicer green and the scooter just looks like the paint is still wet! The Velvia pix look unremarkable and ever so slightly overexposed. I shoot a lot of stereo photography and use Provia 100 F exclusively. Kodak Ektachrome is too warm, Velvia is lackluster. Provia is the closest to Kodachrome (even better than). Thanks for the comparison.

What a great video, the info is so useful.  I have a big photo shoot coming up and need to use 120 film, wasn't sure what film to use.  And after seeing this video I'll use Provia 100.  I hope you will be making more videos, you have good talent.  And I could tell a lot of work went into in making this video.  Well done and thanks so much for your effort.

i like these tutorials the are easy to understand i think for most people the simpler the better.
In the eighties i had two Hasselblads the cm500 and the electric and used a lot of ektachrome 64 pro which was balanced when they made this slide film but what i did was had internegs made which were 4by5 inch and had beautiful prints made from them, the beautiful ektachromes are as good as when i took them i have kept them in a dry and cool place,
the 6X6 cm ekatacromes are over 20 to 25 years old and you would think i took them yesterday
thanks.

Slide is something I've only shot once years ago back when Kodak was still making it. Might have try it again at some point when my film stash is a bit lower.

Thanks a lot for the comparison video. The reason I've never shot slide film is because it's so unforgiving; however, it seems like Provia isn't too bad. I might just pick up a roll and give it a try.

I just ordered one roll of each for my 6x7 and I'm hoping for a vibrant, fruitful autumn to test them out on

Next time you make comparison video of two slide films, please do it with the same lens and meter with hand held meter. I prefer Sekonic :D
The difference between photos could also be couse of different processing, I couldn't tell. However, this proofs that a third of stop difference on a slide film could produce totally different image...

Did you used any filters for both of the film? Like a skylight filter? I've heard Provia have a blue cast and need a skylight filter? Should I have a skylight filter on the lens all time? Any opinion will be appreciated.

Seems that both really saturate colors, but Provia adds a little more green where Velvia adds a little more blue in areas that aren't red. I think you have to be more careful with Velvia in subject selection. Provia appears to have more leeway with subjects selection. Good video!

Great video, I was going to buy velvia until I saw this, now I don't know what I'm going to do

I always get a strong purple or blue tint when I shoot slides (velvia as well as provia). Anyone else have this problem?

they look the same, but velvia is slightly over exposed....they look so close that I wonder if there really is a difference. I spoke to a Cigarette dealer and I asked him what the difference between the green and blue pack of Kool cigarettes was and he said there wasn't any, they were just seeing which color sells better.

Provia looks much better than Velvia 100, head and shoulders above Velvia 100
