My cat always wags her tail, never just the tip. And mostly when I am around her, but it is an upright wag. She even wags it when she is on my lap getting attention (petting and snuggling), purring and licking the hand not petting her.

Charlie was a wild (junkyard) rescue as a kitten 4-5 weeks old. Her eyes were heavily crusted shut with an eye infections, weak and nearly dead.
Charlie never "talks" but does "chirp and chatter" at me. She only purrs when in my lap.

I've always assumed that since she was rescued at an early age, that she never learned the "cat (body) language"; which is why she does not act like my other two rescues. And at 2 years old has only just decided that she likes being my cat (as she makes it quite clear that I am her human).

So why does she wag her tail when she clearly is not annoyed?

My cat is always swishing his tail around.. Even when his body language otherwise clearly indicates that he's happy and comfortable, and especially when he's snuggling up on me trying to get me to pet him or when I pet him in just the right spot. It's confusing me!
