Welcome to a new series of solo roleplaying adventures in The Electric State RPG!

In this series, I will take you through the hauntingly beautiful and surreal landscape of Simon Stålenhag’s The Electric State, where a young woman and her robot companion journey through a post-apocalyptic America in the late 1990s. The world is filled with remnants of a society overtaken by technology and VR, leaving behind a mysterious, eerie emptiness.

Episode 1:
In this episode, I introduce the unique world of The Electric State, describe the main characters, and set the stage for their journey. We'll delve into the strange, melancholic landscape, discovering fragments of a once-connected society now lost to the virtual world. Expect to explore not only the rich backstory but also the motivations and emotional depth of the cast as they begin their trek across this decaying world.

The Electric State RPG focuses on narrative-driven storytelling, where players explore a world blending retrofuturistic technology with dystopian themes. As with other series on Hollowponds Solo Sagas, the emphasis is on immersive storytelling, character-driven narratives, and solo play.

This sounds like an interesting game. I like road journey stories, so I’m interested in seeing how it plays. The Bliss mechanic sounds similar to the Rot mechanic in Mutant Year Zero. It is impressive how they’ve adapted the system to different games and genres.

Thank you for a good introduction. The images from the book are wonderful and horror inspiring at the same time. I like how you are making this story in the world of the Electric State come off as more positive than in the book. I agree with other commenters here. The Netflix adaption looks cheap and insulting to the author and original world of the book. Your playthroughs will be a better alternative.
