Jerry West was a bad man, watched him growing up, he could play both ends of the court equally well and was always clutch!!

I was 16 years old and was at that 1970 NBA playoff game where he shot that 60 footer. My best friend’s dad had season seats & we were sitting right below the camera that caught that shot. That might have been my head & hand that came into the frame, who knows but we were that close to the camera. It was absolutely nuts seeing that shot!!! I really miss those days of the pure sport.

"Mr Clutch, " the NBA logo. One of the Laker greats. One of the greatest.

Is it just me or did seem more eloquent back then while playing the game. This man is gliding as if he is on ice.

Jerry west had a lightening quick release he would destroy todays guards who never bothered to learn how to play defense.

These comments are sickening. Skill is skill. West would have been great in any era. Saying hes not built for today's NBA is ridiculous. Is Curry's scrawny ass built for today's NBA? No, but he just got MVP. What about Nash? Back to back MVP. Dont hate. Appreciate.

If you look closely you'll notice there's a small picture of Jerry West in the bottom right corner of the screen throughout most of the clip :)

my favourite player to watch for mechanics. his form, footwork, and ball handling was so fluid. NBA classics for sure. too bad he didn't play like a decade later!

That 1972 Lakers team with Wilt in the middle and West/Goodrich filling it up from outside was the best ever IMO. A near perfect combination of inside and outside play. Lots of great role players around those 3 and a remarkable team.

Great video. Hopefully it'll help more people appreciate what a great, great player he was. I'm totally confident he would still be an all-star caliber player today, especially given the lack of hand checking and physical perimeter defense, not to mention the three point line. He would have fixed his off-hand dribbling and finishing in no time. I could watch him shoot all day.

What a perfect video- choice and placement of footage and music has me mesmerized.

It was in 1984 that I met Jerry West at a sports festival in West Virginia. I still have his autograph.

the prettiest smoothest jump shooter  ever   my all time favorite  thanks for the childhood memories I had of you playing 1969-1973  (I was 13 )   I'm glad I didn't see your lose over and over again to the Celtics I would have cried with you

Anyone else hear Bill Russell (commentating the game) say "2 points" when West shot the ball at 3:42 before it even went through the hoop...haha what a fucking legend

One of the most perfect JUMP shoots ever to watch and learn, one hand in the side just for the direction then the shot is made with one hand only...

if the 3 point rule was in effect, they would have won that game
