Reputation system Mute button, report button. Problem solved no? I can't think of a single thing someone could say to me on an online game which would make me quit. Somebody being an asshole just makes it all the more satisfying when I kick their ass.

[edit] watching the rest of the video. Matchmaking trolls together is a good idea, canned responses is a good idea as well for some games.
I don't like the opt-in to toxicity idea, who decides what counts as toxic? Is disagreeing with people or having an opinion toxic? Is calling an idiot an idiot toxic? The only person I want to decide who I should or shouldn't listen to is me.

Hmm, kinda sad that the focus was mostly on revenue and retention, with practically no mention of human needs or feelings.

Feels like a bleak dystopian view where theres more effort to exclude people than bring them in. I felt like all the solutions offered in this talk were unsustainable patch-work placebos that simply try to hide the issue. I feel really sad about that.

Adopting Nonviolent Communication into game design and business decisions could solve this issue permanently.
