I never heard of Warren Buffet until just recently.

It's puzzling, at time 11:05, the idea that "owning the town's newspapers automatically makes you the most important person in town"

No one can miss the fact that "If I own the town's news outlets, and everyone reads the news, I own the information flow"

That doesn't make you important. It never has.

If the owner of a news outlet thinks they have "flow-of-information rights that dictate what people think", that still doesn't make them the most important person in town.

The old saying "I don't believe much of what I read, and only half of what I see" is very old. People stopped trusting news sources long before this 2007 interview was conducted. A main reason for declining interest in news outlets is - no faith in the accuracy.

"Trust but verify" was a very old idea by the time this 2007 interview happened. The TV, cable, and news business has been failing, quite rapidly, and there are lots of reasons why, but misleading people is a portion of the reason.
