Is it only 27? I've lost track of the number of times I've gone out to shoot a portable ops video, only to do something stupid...

stuff happens, a friend planned a sota in northern Ireland had the radio gear a thermos of tea a big lunch hiking poles rain gear set off got to the top in 2 hours, put up the antenna ran the coax got the radios situated, the folding char all set up, ,, turn on the radio... nothing.. checked everything again still nothing forgot the batteries!!! as he put it "i had a great day beautiful clear day and nice lunch and a good cup of tea... then packed everything

Ah well, glad you had a good activation with lots of contacts that's the main thing!! Thanks for being brave and posting. Pretty sure anybody who has ever operated portable has a bag of stories about issues encountered. 73's from VK land.

At least you still activated. Nothing worse than “rushing” out, setting up, only to discover you forgot the power plug adapter or coax adapter 😅

😊a while back my station was struck by lightning, anttena was in a tree and it whiped out my equipment, the following summer a storm was headin my way so i unplugged coax, the next day i started sendind cw with the output pwr set abt 20watts, i glance at my meter, i glance at my coax end on the floor, i start to get excited, i know at that point i just fried my 1000 dollar radio scream upstairs, no no wat did i do ?😊

Thanks for sharing! I have to laugh because I did exactly the same thing a few years ago (Also using a Zoom H6 audio recorder). In my case, though, I had just finished shooting a video of a six-piece band - We had to play all of the songs over again.
