It's amazing how LOTR special effects hold up nicely up to this day.

Fire powers are interesting, they either look a bit strange when designed to look realistic, or can look very nice when they are done with a bit of unrealistic effect.

I'm gonna be honest in saying that the CGI fir the fantastic 4 movies were really good considering that it was 2005 and 2007. Human Torch and Silver Surfer still look great to this day.

I always liked how the Balrogs fire looks and feels thick and dirty… like a horrible sooty tire fire that would choke you from far away, and you’d feel your eyes burning and itching before you even saw him.. a truly horrible and evil kind of burning tar like fire that fits the demonic appearance.
