Hi-Res Audio - How To Listen to High Resolution Audio – HyperX Gaming

At HyperX we’re constantly pushing the envelope to bring you the latest and greatest technological advances. Hi-Res Audio is a standard of lossless audio capable of reproducing a fuller range of sound from recordings that have been mastered at a level beyond CD-quality sources. In simpler terms, High Resolution Audio is closer to the original studio recording and takes advantage of a wider portion of the audio spectrum. HyperX is excited to deliver this technology to gamers.
The Benefits of Hi-Res Audio
CD-quality audio is encoded at a bit depth of 16-bits and a sample rate of 44.1kHz. The most popular digital formats, such as MP3 and AAC, compress files down even further. While these audio formats sound pretty good, High-Res Audio goes a step further, encoding audio at 24-bits and 96kHz to add a level of clarity and detail that was previously missing. Hi-Res Audio’s 24-bit depth and higher 96kHz sample rate allow for a wider dynamic range and better frequency response which more faithfully recreates the original waveform. Nuances like the timbre and textures of sounds that would normally get lost are captured in Hi-Res Audio, providing greater clarity and a more satisfying listening experience.
Hi-Res Audio Requirements
To experience High-Resolution Audio, you’ll need to make sure that you have all the required Hi-Res components; content, a playback device, and an output device. Regarding the content, typically, these audio formats are Hi-Res versions of FLAC, WAV, AIFF, DSD, or ALAC files. You’ll need a playback device that can play the content in Hi-Res. Finally, you’ll need an output device that can handle Hi-Res formats, such as headphones or speakers that have been certified to have frequencies response of at least 40kHz on the high end. Be on the lookout for HyperX products that sport the Hi-Res Audio logo to get cutting-edge audio technology combined with that signature HyperX quality you’ve come to know and love.

One thing is for sure, most people won’t tell the difference between Hi Res audio on a multi thousand dollar system. But NO ONE will EVER tell the difference using a hyper x product

0:57 One of the greatest lies in the audio industry, believed only by those that know nothing about how digital audio is reproduced. Audio is always reproduced in waves and not those square parts. The audio reproduction is perfect up to the half of the sampling rate, which is 22.1 kHz for the CD quality standard.

Do yourself a favor not believing in this line of HyperX marketing. There's Sony, Fiio, Shanling, Audio Technica also bears this Hi-res branding that empirically proven to be better in term of sound quality. Lesson is, that hi-res logo means nothing, its the actual product history and tuning that makes a difference, and HyperX probably not one of them.

You just explained what the owner of that logo explained years ago *Sony*

sorry to burst everybody's bubble here but HyperX products or any gaming headsets are not FLAC uncompressed audio level stuff, they're inexpensive gaming headphones, not audiophile grade headphones, and u cant distinguish between uncompressed audio formats and MP3.

Dude i am sorry to tell you, that whoever designed the CD quality graph to analogue signal, didnt know what he did there, wether your blue bar is using the left or the right (corner) or the middle but never mixing up, same graph errors in Hi-Res graph.
Plz make a note there and 1:03 + 1:11

Time for HyperX to release an AMP (Not the USB dongle) and DAC.

So many people saying “this is a gaming headset, not audiophile equipment”... when it’s exactly the Cloud II that got me to look into that FLAC and hi-res stuff, because it made it obvious how bad MP3 was (something I hadn’t noticed before). Yes, many gaming products are garbage, but please refrain from commenting if you haven’t actually tried HyperX headsets specifically.

High Res is merely the standard on the file format for audio storage and processing. It is quantifiable (40khz sample, 24hz depth or greater etc). You can tell if a Codec or a DAC meets the standard.

High FIDELITY is how the output device reproduces the sound. And the reality is that companies can stick the high res audio label on anything they please even for bad sounding products.

If you are serious about your audio go for reputable and serious headphone and speaker brands...kingston hyperX are my solid state drive my ram memory and usb sticks...the best..but my audio gear is not..gamer headphones are a criminal joke.

CD is best already best... All you need in a dedicated DAC/amplifier & hi-fi speakers from Yamaha, JBL or Philips

This video over simplifies the subject greatly. Getting hi -res audio takes more than buying a few things that have this badge. I'd bet 99% of people don't have the proper gear source to speakers to playback hi-res audio. Probably not even the full potential of CD. Don't feel bad hi-re audio is pretty much a marketing scam, you can't hear 24bit/96khz.

Where is .APE format? There must be included in the list of Hight Resolution Audio Formats.

7digital is currently my favorite website to go to purchase hi-res songs individually. If I want the whole album, I'll go with used CDs since it's the cheapest option. I also dig the vinyl records, despite the flaws. But, with a decent setup, it's worth it (to me anyway).

Most music has been recorded in CD Quality... Are you upscaling? Upscaling doesn't work.
