What is Kwanzaa? Kwanzaa for Kids
Показать описание
Kwanzaa is a celebration of African-American culture and heritage. It lasts for seven days from December 26th to the 1st of January.
Almost 18 million people celebrate Kwanzaa mostly by African-Americans in the United States. Kwanzaa began as a way to encourage African Americans to reconnect with their historical African culture
Kwanzaa comes from a Swahili phrase that means "first fruits of the harvest".
Many people celebrate Kwanzaa by decorating their home in African art and the traditional Kwanzaa colors of black, green, and red.
Kwanzaa festivities usually involve African dances, drums, storytelling as well as poetry.
Kwanzaa is observed with 7 candles that are black, red, and green, placed in a holder called a Kinara.
