A FEW THINGS I FORGOT TO MENTION ARE; TO BE SURE THE SEPARATE THE LOCS AFTER EVERY WASH AND NOT RETWISTING DOES PROMOTE "THICKER" LOCS*.

I do mines the exact same way 🙂I retwist mine every 6/7 months. I wash my locks every 2weeks and try to keep it moisture at least 3x a week, but most importantly I keep them covered especially when I am going to bed 🙂. I love your videos and you are very beautiful sis ❤💓And I've been on my lock journey coming into my 4th year and it has been one of the greatest experience of my life 😍

Locks are so fascinating as well as how different people's experiences can be. I just started my second set of locks. I had my old set for more than 6 years. I interlocked them in the beginning but stopped after an episode of doing it too tight. After that I would separate my locks once a month. That's it. I never had more than about an inch, 2 inches tops of loose new growth. My roots locked very quickly. That picture of your loose roots in that bun blows my mind. It is gorgeous though. Like the best of both worlds! New sub!

I'm a free former and RARELY twist my natural garden. hair will still loc despite lack of retwisting. you def get a different perspective and styling options from more loose hair.

SHALOM DXLYN! I know, I'm just seeing this video some 5 yrs later but because of you and a few others (mostly u) I washed my hair today without a retwist, and I gotta say, my hair still looks good, it I used a peppermint shampoo and smells AWESOME. I moisturized it, and I'm letting it air dry and wow, I don't havta retwist! (I used to dread washing my hair cause if I do my own retwist it takes hrs, i have about 105 locks) but I got my hair retwisted at a salon 3 wks ago and I'm gonna try and wait till late March or early April before I get it retwisted again, just to strengthen my hair. Thank you much for your videos and AWESOME loc advice, SHALOM!

I do not retwist my locs.  I have lots of new growth and babies sprouting all over my head and I love it.  I have had my locs for 7 years and they are waist length.  I love that when I wear my hair down, it looks really thick, healthy, and long.  I also love that when I choose to wear it in an updo, I am able to create styles that do not depend on hair ties or pins.  Due to the thickness, my locs will hold a style securely and comfortably.

Mature and baby locs...mine look like that now. LOL I lIke it that way, too, because of the versatility. And you're right about coloring. It's best to let a professional do it.

U r so right. thanks for the update. Am on my fifth month of starter locks and I did two strand twist to start like almost shoulder length. I do try to retwist once a month. it does make a difference. my hair is very thick and one thing I don't want is thinning locks. the most retwist I would do is twice a month. right now am on the messy type of locs stage. can't wait for the middle to the ends to lock. Ur locs r nice. I definitely see a difference in ur hair. great job. learn something new everyday
