They're following their ideas, not the market

I swear, every time they make it sound just as good as the album version, if not better!

About 15 years ago they were on the same show dressed as clowns, Love the way the band changes through time.

The Car will be definitely not for everybody for sure, but their sounds are just impeccable both on live and the album version.

I’m not a fan of Arctic monkeys but this is like Bowie, Wings and Queen all rolled in to one, great song writing and the best vocals I’ve ever heard him deliver, If this was released in 1975 we’d consider it a classic today

Nick O'Malley is such a great bass player, he's the groove! Incredible bass lines for these last two records.

I can’t get over the fact how genius and talented they are. We are so lucky watching them growing up with every album. I’m so proud of them, congratulations for next amazing work boys, no other band such as you❤️🪩

Alex Turner is such a great performer, singing and feeling the vibe, his moves on the stage reflect perfectly what we fell when we linten to the chorus.

The lyrics
For a master of deception and subterfuge
You've made yourself quite the bed to lie in
Do your time traveling through the tanning booth
So you don't let the sun catch you crying
So predictable, I know what you're thinking
My teeth are beating and my knees are weak
It's as if there's something up with the wiring
You can poke your head behind the mountain peak
Don't have to mean that you've gone into hiding
So predictable, I know what you're thinking
I'm watching your every move
I feel the tears are coming on
It won't be long, it won't be long
Straight from the cover shoot
Still a trace of body paint
On your legs and on your arms and on your face
And I'm keeping on my costume (keeping on)
I'm calling it a writing tool
And if you're thinking of me, I'm probably thinking of you
There's still a trace of body paint
On your legs and on your arms and on your face
There's still a trace of body paint
On your legs and on your arms and on your face
There's still a trace of body paint
On your legs and on your arms and on your face
There's still a trace of body paint
On your legs and on your arms and on your face
So predictable, I know what you're thinking

It’s so bizarre that they clearly enjoy playing these songs as rock songs but refuse to actually write in this style

I kinda resent that the album doesn't sound more like this. Lots of gravitas and emotion, big sweeping crescendos that bring catharsis to the buildups. Alex feels so much more alive here than he does for 90% of the album.

The live performances of their last couple of records show that the guys still have it and never lost it, despite the stark but endearing difference in tone from their earlier work.

It's a great feeling that they're making the music they want and are clearly revelling in it, as well as being able to let loose on stage.

You go Alex, you'd give Freddie Mercury a run for his money if we only had a time machine
