Omg I can relate to this on so many fucking levels! It feels really nice to hear it put into words. I love my dad and he did so much for me but the things he did to my mom have stayed with me all these years. I have held onto negative moments in our time together more than I feel I should and because of this our relationship is incredibly elusive and strained. I wish I knew of a way to fix everything, As an adult I understand more than ever why he did the things he did but for the little girl inside of me, I still hold resentment. I went through so fucking much without my dad.

Her parents' relationship definitely has huge impact on her and her own relationships. She said she doesn't tolerate domestic abuse nor cheating . She walked away and never looked back when Rob cheated on her when she could have used him and their relationship to her own benefit and get more fame than she arelady had at the time with cheetah girls . she aims for a healthy relationship kudos to her . 👏

I completely understand how as we get older we gain perspectives on maybe why our parents made the choices that they did but it still doesn’t take away the hurt, unfortunately. And forgiveness in itself is hard!

This made me tear up because I can totally relate😢 my dad has been an exceptional father and I’ll never wish I could have had a different dad. He was always making sure my mom and my brother and me were always okay, our house was a good home to live in. He was always having our back. Somewhere along the line he lost himself through things he just couldn’t control and has held soo much resentment towards life that he’s turned into such a bitter man, he’s constantly being mean to my mom annoyed at everything, he picks arguments with us. I know he tries to be better but idk it’s sad to see him just not be him 😢

How do people move past that. As an adult you have so much more understanding, but also you carry the memories which can be draining. I feel so much empathy in general, and have always been able to make excuses and move on from 'mistakes' easily, but it's hard to forget especially when loved ones hurt you

I didn't have the best dad growing up but he did try so hard to give me the life he never had. After learning about his own family situation I understand why he was the way he was while raising me.
