Hi, I'm a local event organizer for X-wing and despite AMG dropping the game, it's far from being dead! There are thousands of people still playing and a group of veterans, playtesters and event organizers created took over development of the game - so updates, balance changes and new pilots are in the making!

Xwing is definitely addictive, and 2.0 might have been my favorite game ever. So easy to enter, one-day tourneys that still had you play enough games to get your fill, so many different viable archetypes... But then along came AMG and they just picked their favorite way to play. It made no sense. The player base which was already struggling with 2.0 (although the shift was a good one imo) vanished overnight in my community. I live in a somewhat rural area so when such an update drops, there are very few players left. I'm not gonna lie, I'm still pissed at AMG's handling of the game, I still miss my regular games of Xwing with friends and even colleagues. Good luck finding people to play with, and I'm saying it in all seriousness : if you manage to find players, you'll have a great time

I’ve actually just started collecting and hopefully playing X-Wing as well!
Bought the original starter and a couple of ships years ago, played with a few mates for a while, but didn’t take it further than that.
Then last week, went in to a comicbook shop, and in the back corner they had loads of x-wing on clearance. So I bought the millennium falcon I always wanted as well as a couple of squadron packs. Can’t wait to get started.

Excellent summary! Great to see more newer players interested in the game. :) If you're interested in getting involved with the community effort plenty of us content creators and various community led projects have their own Discord spaces.

There's a real buzz around the game atm. It was kind of flatlining in terms of interest due to the player base not really jiving with the newer rules and game direction, but now we've got a community body leading the game we're far more confident about it's direction.

I sold off my collection when I moved back before 2.0 came out. Kinda wishing I’d kept it.. it was so fun. Now I’m getting the itch for something again and I miss how simple but entertaining this game was.

I'm actually happy that it's "dead." To me the game is complete, and I don't have to keep spending money on it. I prefer v1.0. There's still so much to try out with a diverse collection.

Was eyeing up the products for X-Wing on sale at my store, wasn’t sure if I wanted to get into another game. This video made me bite the bullet. Shame Asmodee really made these decisions, hopefully the community can keep it alive.

Hey me too! I bought a boat load of ships when stores starting clearing stuff out. Got at least a dozen ships of each of the 7 factions.

Now I need to find people to play with.

Id recommend picking up Battle of Yavin and Battle over Endor scenario packs, good fun alternative game types and more pilots for rebel/empire
