The Western Diamondback Rattlesnake often inhabits forested areas throughout its range. If a suitable hibernaculum is found a rattlesnake can survive there and reproduce. Often forested hillsides in Oklahoma can provide just such a place.

The Western Diamondback can survive harsh temperatures and can go without food and water for long periods of time if it has to. This makes it one of the ultimate survivors of the snake world.

Although often portrayed as menacing and threatening, the rattlesnake is a calm docile creature when left alone and observed from a distance. They do not deserve the bad reputation they get and I personally grew up around many of them on a farm in Oklahoma.

Today my hope is that this video will demonstrate the other side of a rattlesnakes nature not often seen in the media or on other YouTube videos. Filmed in Oklahoma in 2017 and 2018.

Really enjoyed this video - very educational and entertaining! You found some beautiful subjects - great job of filming them! That one snake that looked like it was filmed going across a lawn, looked close to 6 feet! Wow! Great looking habitat down there, too!

They may all be diamond backs but they come in such a array of different colors which l love about them. Certainly wish people would have more respect for them and how much they do keep rodent populations down and a big part of our eco system.
