The Brazilian gymnasts' collants were designed by Jade Barbosa, who is one of the gymnasts on the team and has been competing since 2008, so they have a special meaning.

I watched a video from the US designers. They "built up the torso" to mimic corsets to pay homage to French design.
The US and Brazil had phenomenal athletes in phenomenal uniforms.

The blue Brazilian clothing is very reminiscent of the "fardão" of the writings of the Brazilian Academy of Letters (founded by Machado de Assis and his friends at the end of the 19th century). These are the jackets they still wear today for formal ceremonies. But in the qualifiers, my girls were wearing some outfits with embroidery in the shape of feathers that looked like Brazilian carnival costumes, which were also very beautiful. The girls are making us very proud of our nation.

Look at what Jana Mahmoud (Egyptian gymnast) wore - her qualifiers leotard especially was exquisite. The leotards are a proud and clear homage to the pharaohs and it just feels like they'd be amazing to wear, as well as making it obvious which country she’s representing without the need for the lettering. She has one with Eye of Horus on the chest which is so powerful!!! Really amazing stuff from the design team and the best leotards I’ve seen so far.

I really liked the blue base Brazilian one😍 I watched a lot of gymnastics this year and there were some gorgeous ones but that one and the negative space star American ones were my favourite!
