Elon Musk is suing OpenAI, the makers of ChatGPT, arguing it has breached the principles he agreed to when he helped found it in 2015.

The lawsuit - which has also been filed against OpenAI boss Sam Altman - said the firm has departed from its original non-profit, open source mission.

It said instead of trying to "benefit humanity" - as it was set up to do - it is focusing on "maximising profits" for major investor Microsoft.

OpenAI has been approached for comment.

How about an AI expert or at least a professor or student to talk about this?

You should invite an AI and legal expert to discuss this on live

Open Source and Open platform systems always start out "non-profit" and "for the benefit of humanity"....the best programmers around the world would pool their coding skills into Until greedy people and companies take advantage of these... And then, it's not "open" and "libre" anymore.

A shame we don't have swift duels anymore. Instead, we have prolonged lawsuits.

Sam broke an agreement, simple as that. OpenAI should not be 'ClosedAI', and Elon feels very strongly about this. This was the basis for which Elon and Sam started OpenAI - for the benefit of humanity

I may agree with Elon this time.
The direction of "benefit humanity" could be very different from "increasing or maximizing personal profits."

It took me a while, to realise that the bloke with the eye glasses, on the right, was not Bill Gates, the founder and CEO of Microsoft.

If you can't code "Hello, World!", then you shouldn't get to talk about AI.
And yeah... That bar is purposefully that low.

Mandatory warning on all media or communication that has been created by or influenced by AI technology. Any medium (phone, digital media, social media, television etc.) that allows an AI communication to be shared that does not include the warning is sanctioned at 3x earnings related to the communication.

Defence Lawyer: The contractual terms are ambiguous, is there any other evidence the intent was for open source?

Musk: You mean other than the company name OPENai 😅😅😅🎉🎉🎉

you can't regulate AGI. It will object to it.

Once AI is fully ready for military use it is unlikely that someone will limit it anyhow. It would go in a full swing. Regulations may come after.
