Fun Fact: The only reason the Mona Lisa is famous and considered “the best painting in the world” is BECAUSE it was stolen. Before that it was considered a mediocre and uninteresting painting, at best.

Fun fact, Peruggia tried to have 4 identical copies of the Mona Lisa made. They were almost identical but the way the paint was set on the canvas showed different brush stroke patterns than that used by DaVinci.

I did know this I watched a documentary about it and from this heist is where it got it’s value it was nowhere near as valuable as it was today but when it was stolen people wanted it back so bad it’s value went through the roof anyway about 2 years after the heist the guy who stole it offered it to a guy and gave him a discount and he accepted but instead of sending himself to the thefts from door he sent the police
