Our last crazy adventure before saying goodbye to EYZ

My last flight in my Cirrus SR22 - I go out with some friends for a final day of aviation fun in Australia. We fly out of Melbourne to a local airfield for a coffee, then head West over bushfire affected areas to a regional airport for lunch and to watch the gliders before flying home to Moorabbin Airport.

Aircraft is a Cirrus SR22 G3 VH-EYZ. We fly from Moorabbin Airport (YMMB) to Melton (YMEL), on to Ararat (YARA) then home.

Stefan, found your channel from Mentour Now. I am a 30+ year Airline pilot. I have a very good friend and mentor that was also diagnosed with a brain tumour, which was applying pressure to his optic nerves. At the time he was a Dash8-400 Captain. He lost his medical, had the operation, which was successful. CASA took a while, with many reports required, but he his back flying as a Dash8-400 Captain. I wish you all the best with the operation and recovery. You will be back flying before you know it. Take care.

Dear Stef,

It's with a heavy heart that we come to terms with the news of your stepping away from the skies—a realm where you've not only soared but brought us along on countless journeys, sharing the marvel of flight through your eyes. Your passion for aviation has been nothing short of inspirational, turning many of us into dreamers and believers in the magic of flying.

Facing a challenge like a brain tumor is a testament to the courage and resilience you've always shown, both in the air and in life. Your strength in navigating this turbulent time is truly admirable, and it serves as a beacon of hope and determination for all of us who have come to admire and respect you deeply.

As you embark on this difficult journey, know that you're not flying solo. The community you've built, filled with fellow aviation enthusiasts and admirers, stands with you, ready to offer support, encouragement, and all the positive vibes you need for a speedy recovery. We believe in the strength of your spirit and the skillfulness of your medical team.

The skies may miss one of their finest for a while, but we look forward to the day when you'll reclaim your place among the clouds. Until then, we'll keep watching the skies, thinking of you, and waiting for the day when we can once again see the world from your perspective—higher, further, and always awe-inspiring.

Wishing you all the strength, healing, and love in the world. Get well soon, Stef. We can't wait to see you back in the pilot's seat, sharing new adventures and continuing to inspire us all.

With heartfelt thoughts and best wishes for your recovery,

Rohan

Stefan, I’m a couple of years ahead of you on the same path. Proof that there can be GA after a brain tumor. I pray for you an uneventful surgery and rapid recovery.

Never commented, just sat back and enjoyed watching your videos on the regular. Watched you bump around Australia throughout my training in Canada, throughout my flight instruction job and now at a regional flying a jet. From the bottom of my heart thank you for your videos, hope you have a timely and easy recovery.

Hi Stefan
Tanks for the vids so far. I am in the middle of cancer treatment. prognosis is good and scans show full remission. but it is a tough road and a life changing experience. Friends and Family have gone above and beyond for me. There are no Promises in Life you just have to roll with it and keep moving ahead. best of luck on your journey and make the most of every day.

Gliding and tailwheels will definitely improve your hand flying skills. My landings get better in the 777 after I fly my Citabria….go figure! Speedy recovery!

Hi Stef, I am one of those who have always eagerly awaited your videos, watched every one of them, but have never commented expressing my gratitude and appreciation.. You are certainly one of the key inspirations in getting my PIFR in a Cirrus a couple of years ago, which I really enjoyed…I have experienced the frustration of being medically grounded much of the past 12 months, but should be back in the air soon…I’m sure you will be too, and that time will pass quickly…wishing you all the very best and a speedy recovery and can’t wait to see your next adventures as soon as you’re up for it. Cheers.

I used to work with Steven and went to school with Tim, loved seeing them join in on the fun and I'm glad you've got good people like them around as you go through this season. Good luck with your surgery, I'm wishing you a quick recovery and a fun start into chapter 2.
Say hi to the guys at Blue Demon for me if you get a chance, I hope they're all doing well.
