Ridley Scott Curses Out Journalist Over 'The Last Duel' Question

When somebody isn’t speaking their first language it’s generally a good idea to just give them the benefit of the doubt. I seriously doubt this interviewer intended any offense.

In a perfect world Jodie Comer would get all the attention, recognition, and praises she deserves for her subtle, nuanced, poignant, utterly brilliant and beautiful performance in 'The Last Duel'. It's a crime how much she's been overlooked this award season.

The problem was the marketting. Here in Canada, they kept pushing the actors' names in the advertisments, but never told audiences what the story was about. So no one wanted to see it. Hollywood needs to realize that people don't see a film because of the stars. We want to see a good film because the story looks interesting.

This is really ridiculous. I mean, he's trying to pay a compliment to ridley and he curses the guy out. What does he do when someone says they hated the film. He was saying the other films were good but in his opinion this one was more real or whatever. The interviewer probably gave the film itself more praise than it really deserved. If ridley can't even handle a compliment without being a complete a total tool than maybe have one of his producers or a writer handle press for the film.

If Jodie answered the same way, she wouldn’t work for a while. This just shows the double standard and the narcissism of old Hollywood directors. If you make a piece of art you should be able to defend it.

To be fair the interviewer had a point lol. The last duel was absolutely incredible, I really enjoyed it and have to say I enjoyed more the second time of watching.

What’s wrong with saying that the film your promoting now is more realistic than your previous film? Isn’t that a praise for your current film? Or does he want to hear his current work is more fantasy-like than his previous ones?
The director was being an asshole on this one.

Guess this incident was the reason Jodie Comer chose not work with Ridley Scott again on the Napoleon movie in favour of the Prima Facie Play. Wisest decision she ever made.

Ridley Scott grew up in the north east of England, but puts on a fake posh southern English accent. When his fragile ego is offended and his blood boils, the Geordie accent sometimes comes out. His real accent. Not so much in this clip, but on other occasions. We should not be surprised that someone in hollywood is fake. An industry of actors; individuals that have chosen careers where they pretend to be someone else. Professional liars.
