I predict that if Aiyuk fails to take the deal offered by the Niners, that they make him play on the 5th year option, then tag him for 2025 and trade him then. Sitting out the season would mean that heʻd still be under contract for 2025 on his 5th year deal. Sitting out only enough to keep the 5th year deal in place will cost him $millions. Playing poorly and being disgruntled will dramatically reduce his market value and he wonʻt get the deal he wants. Aiyuk has no leverage. The Niners will trade him ONLY if they get a win out of it. No point otherwise.
