Death toll of Turkey and Syria earthquakes exceeds 6,000

The death toll of two devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria has surpassed 6,000 in addition to 10,000 people injured. NBC News’ Matt Bradley reports on how rescue workers fear survivors trapped will not outlive cold temperatures and aftershocks throughout the night.

I am reminded that, in Japan, their 3/11 earthquake/tsunami was followed by freezing, snowy nights and days afterward.

One problem of flying in aid is "weights", I don't suppose for mobile cranes and palfinger arm systems they carry the "ballast weights" required on aircraft. However, an interesting point on ballast weights for lift equipment is weight can be calculated in cubic centimeter of concrete quite close. So that rubble could be fitted if concrete cutting equipment were also brought over.

This is very unfortunate because HI-Rise buildings can be designed not to pancake using triangular beans; especially in quake-prone zones. It is a mortal sin to erect buildings like that in quake zones and put human beings in them. A concrete hi-rise building should never crumble and pancake that way period.
