Paid content for @debeers. Sparsely-populated communities around the Okavango Delta need to bring in trained teachers from other areas of Botswana to fill gaps in their school systems. Often these teachers aren’t used to wildlife and rural living. Supported by Okavango Eternal, a local initiative aims to help teachers adapt into these communities and discover more about the natural world around them, so they can in turn inspire their students to become the conservation leaders of the future.

I’m a retired RN. I’ve worked with highly educated men and women from several African countries. Generally, they are fluent in “the Queens English”. They are generally brighter than average. Africa, educationally, must be doing something right—that the USA isn’t.

While education is important, without addressing pollution and overexploitation, educational efforts may be in vain. A balance between education and environmental protection is needed to achieve the best results.
