Never forget...until it's too expensive to remember.

This disgusts me. The city can absolutely afford to pay for it but these frugal scumbags decide to not help. Honestly disgraceful.

This is ridiculous 😒 sad, and should not be allowed to close. It's a HUGE, HUGE PART OF NYC I WENT IN 2009, AND WAS TOUCHED TO THE CORE. It meant so much to be there.

Y’all relax, please read the title. This was a tribute museum, not the WTC Memorial Museum. That will never close.

Disgraceful - what happened to " Never Forget " - this is Disgusting & Disrespectful. Our government is failing-miserably.

Well, this is really incredible and ridiculous. If you Americans don't have the money to continue maintaining this important museum then I really don't know... I just can't believe it. I visited the museum 4 years ago and I'm very sorry that it's going to close permanently, and I'm not even American. There remains hope that one day this museum will be reopened.

This is just shameful. What happened to "never forget"?

We got the money for the WAR IN UKRAINE, but not for a museum dedicated to all the people who lost their lives in what is considered by many to be the most horrible moment in US history EVER!

This absolutely blows my mind!!
This is like if Japan just dropped Peace Park and completely forgot all about the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the people who died trying to save themselves and others!

I had the privilege of going to that museum with my Uncle, who has lived in NYC and NY most his adult life and was in NYC for 9/11. Not only did I learn everything I wanted to learn about 9/11 but I got the perspective of a New Yorker who watched it happen first hand.

I have been to the museum on 2 different occasions and it was worth going back, its such a beautiful tribute to the tragic events on 9/11. I assumed this was a governmental museum and thought it would be around for ever. my heart is broken right now.

This is a shame this museum was not saved while billions go to other countries without hesitation

You people commenting need to get a grip. There is already a taxpayer-paid-for 9/11 museum on the site of the original trade center. Why waste taxpayer money on this one??? There should be only one. The other one, which was NOT mismanaged like this one. The government (read as: your tax dollars) already paid for multiple 9/11 museums across the country. This one was put together PRIVATELY and is NOT the main NYC 9/11 museum. Get over yourselves or at least get a better grasp on reality.

I was really looking forward to visit this memorial museum in the future😭😭😭

Calm down people. This was a different private museum on Greenwhich and Rector. It is NOT the 9/11 Memorial at the WTC memorial where the towers stood.

From a lot of the comments I think people are confusing this museum with the 911 Memorial Tribute Museum next to the towers foot prints. That memorial museum is still open and always will be.

i woukd think this woukd be a govenment funded museum given that this was America's most notorious mass tragedy

Now the younger generation wont learn about the devastating loss of life.

No the pandemic did not cause the closing of this. The government overreaction to the pandemic did. If this museum was in Fl it would still be operating. This my NYC friends is because of the single minded, fear provoked, reactionary and short sighted actions of those if office in NYC and NY.

Like so many around my age, 9/11 is the reason why I joined the Army. I always hoped that I would get to see this museum someday. Hearing that it will close really breaks my heart.

This isn't right. :-( We should be able to do something about it.
