Olokun is an androgynous Yoruba mermaid Goddess/God of the sea. Her name literally translates into "owner of the ocean." As such, Olokun is considered to be have supreme authority over all other water deities, including Oshun, Oya, Yemaya etc. Unlike Yemaya, who rules over the shallows of the sea, Olokun's realm includes the deepest, darkest parts of the ocean, where treasures--and secrets-- lay.

Olokun is the God of wealth, wisdom, health, emotions, magic and healing. Embodying both feminine and masculine energies, Olokun is said to be the husband/lover of ocean mother Goddess Yemaya by some accounts, and an emperor's wife by others. Possessing an unpredictable temperament as well as the ability to shape shift, Olokun resides in and remains chained to the bottom of the ocean AND IS NOT TO BE MESSED WITH!!
