Asteroid 2005 YU55 close approach

At 6:28 p.m. EST today (Nov. 8, 2011) the asteroid 2005 YU55 will pass closer to Earth than the Moon, giving scientists a rare look at the heavenly body.

Aerospace engineers from Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI) used the company's analysis and visualization software to create an animation of the event.

We should have taken this opportunity to test our capabilities for destroying an asteroid in close range to earth. Well there's a future task for DoD / MoD
