Good summary and as a long-tooth js user, I agree that fundamentals are essential (and too often neglected). With a solid grounding in fundamentals, any language can be tackled and a learner has the foundation for everything to come. Next, projects - especially as a catalyst to learn design patterns and advance features (rather than merely demonstrating a grasp of the basics). Personally, I feel new js programmers are too keen to 'learn' frameworks and many have no idea that they can do everything their framework does in core js (and arguably should be able to before becoming distracted with what the js world believes to be more efficient tools). Your videos are among the best I've seen for really grasping basics and I still (I began js programming 23 years ago) get useful ideas from them.

!!! Not true! You can take just 1 class at a time at a community college....often for free! The advantage is that it's an organized, systematic presentation. The disadvantages are that they put emphasis on the party line, are not available enough when you have questions (6 am? 10pm?), and often add way too much busywork to an otherwise straightforward lesson.
