I talk about key moments and issues that defined each era, from the Golden Age to the Dark Age, and major events like Crisis on Infinite Earths and the rise of the DC Animated Universe (DCAU).

We delve into the evolution of DC Comics through the Silver Age, which introduced complex characters and storylines, and the Bronze Age, which tackled social issues and darker themes. This video also covers the reboots and revamps that have kept DC Comics fresh and relevant, such as the New 52 and DC Rebirth. Learn about the creation of new heroes like Harley Quinn and the influence of graphic novels like The Dark Knight Returns and Kingdom Come.

Finally, we'll discuss the future of DC Comics under James Gunn’s leadership, exploring his vision for the DCU and the potential for new stories. This is your ultimate guide to the legacy and future of DC Comics, celebrating its rich history and looking forward to its promising future.

As a massive Marvel fan that knows almost nothing about DC. I'm more excited for James Gunn's DC way more than the MCU now. Considering the fact that the ladder creatively sold out by casting RDJ as Dr. Doom made me immensely betrayed to say the least. After that it's clear to me that the franchise isn't for me anymore, it's not for die-hard fans that read comics and want more accurate depictions of their favorite heroes and villains, it's for the causal Fast & Furious or Micheal Bay Transformers crowd that are obvious about the source material AND a also a frachise that became a cult of personality around characters that already had their perfect endings and send-offs, and to add insult to injury their writers admitted that they don't know much about the comics AND weren't even allowed to read them even your whole job is adapting those characters! They straight up don't care anymore. Meanwhile James Gunn is a huge comics fan that honors the source material, having people that worked on the comics working on the films, and best of all isn't rushing his movies. So yeah you can see why i'm interested in the DC reboot.

Hey, just found your channel and you made a subscriber out of me. I love that you actually love DC comics where I swear more than half the people on YouTube today that make content about comic books seem to look for any reason at all to just be negative and cynical even about projects that haven’t even come out yet.

Great video covering the history of DC no, I’m not one of the original DC fans going back to the 30s but I have been a DC fan for over 40 years and it does make me smile to see a younger fan that actually likes the comics that didn’t just jump on the bandwagon of comic books movies and Star Wars stuff 12 years ago and because it was just a trend to them now that they’re older they hate everything.

I’m very optimistic about the future of DC as a pertains to cinema. DC with the DCEU had an uphill battle from the start. People were comparing them to Marvel, but Marvel had their own own studio where DC was just making movies by committee via a bunch of suits at Warner Brothers, who had no idea or passion about the properties of DC.

I’m so tired of the people that are already saying the new Superman movie is going to suck based on what? That Zack Snyder isn’t the Director? Hey I really love some of those Zack Snyder movies but I also understand why that universe needed to go away. I’m not telling anyone they must love something they don’t like but if you’re that triggered about movies that no one’s forcing you to watch I wish these people would just leave then we don’t need your commentary if they are just going to complain about everything even before the movie drops.

So keep up the great work, Man. I’m actually going to share this on a group that I run on Facebook.

7:34 Even though Barry Allen/The Flash’s origin in SHOWCASE #4 (1956) is considered the BEGINNING of DC’s reboot in the mid-1950s, Wonder Woman #59 (1953) and Superboy (1945) are REALLY the beginning of the reboot.

Wonder Woman #59 shows a story of Wonder Woman dealing with her “twin” from a parallel earth. This story really introduces fans to the notion of parallel earths and multiple universes existing alongside each other.

Superboy stories, beginning in 1945, show the origin of Earth-1 Superman (same earth as Barry Allen).

When you mentioned the disappointing movies of the DCEU, you didn't bring up the massive amount of controversy it had since the beginning with Man of Steel which was also the case with Batman V Superman but way worse. I mean when you have a film titled Batman V Superman and it doesn't make a billion dollars you know you've messed up.

This was a great effort. I enjoyed it. However there were a few errors. Captain Marvel was a Fawcett Comics character. Many years later DC would get the rights to publish the character. Batgirl is NOT a golden age character. The first Batgirl was Betty Kane. Later, Barbara Gordon would be come the new Batgirl. They were both in the silver age and not the golden age. Neither they or Captain Marvel were in the Justice Society.
