Warded Locks are a simple mechanism, but they can be difficult at first. I have forgotten a lot about this subject, so I do stumble around a bit getting some of these examples open.

When you mention Slaymaker Locks, I remembered the company name. S.R. Slaymaker the lock manufacturing business, which moved to North Water Street in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1900 after the the factor burned down. It first opened in 1888. It was just a little ways from the School I walked to going to 1st Grade. The company’s first locks were sold to the United States Government and railroad companies for their need for inexpensive locks. 🐯✨😲🔐🔑

My second visit! Great skill you have! Wondering what should I do with a door knob lock that is resisting and sticking and refusing to unlock. I nearly gave up opening our church door yesterday! Garry here from GBL-The Ole Church 5 Acre Homestead…yes, we bought a CHURCH!

Finally succes! Well even if they are simple, you have to hit just the right spot. It's a lot of feeling the right lever as you can't see what the right spot is, just make an educated guess and try.

Awesome to see ya with some locks again! Don’t they usually use warded locks where they have bad weather a lot so the key way doesn’t freeze?
