I've set up a bunch of routes& boulders and I leave the moss around the area. If I can setup a beta around the moss or find holds sticking out occasionally I'll still make a route up thru it sometimes. If it's a bit of dirt or small bits of moss I'll clear em. Usually I just look for an area with no moss but that's easier said than done in the NW lol.

Part of the reason is because I feel conflicted clearing pounds and pounds of moss from the environment, and on top of that some areas around here require pre-approval before clearing, and then if approved you're responsible for upkeeping the route lol. Have to keep coming back each year to clean it.

Dont use on sandstone.. our local sandstone is so soft you can really change a hold with 5 brushes.

As an auto mechanic, this is kind of interesting. Any chance you know what sort of epoxy is used? Wondering if it's a worthwhile modification for mine. Primarily used for cleaning brake hardware, lol.

I bought some, they are so much better with the epoxy

Norton brand scratch brushes are superior to any diy epoxy job. If you carried them my crew (who ordered permas from you) wouldnt have to keep bulk buying them.
