We say thank you to Jimmy Howard as GM Steve Yzerman announces the Red Wings will not be offering him a contract prior to the free agency period

Jimmy may not have won us a cup, but there were a few of seasons where he gave us chances to be in contention for playoffs even though we were out-shot most games and outplayed. Thank you Jimmy. You'll always be a Red Wing in my eyes.

I'm going to miss Jimmy. He is everything you would want from a goalie and that made him loved by a large part of the fan base. Goalies are sometimes polarizing figures but nobody could hate Jimmy. He was amazing to the fans and a damn good hockey player. Detroit loves you and will miss you.

The goaltender of my childhood team... It’s gonna be tough seeing him in another uniform, and although I saw this coming, I’m still in shock. I’ve been watching red wings hockey since 2010, and he’s always been there. I’m gonna miss Jimmy.

Honestly though. I keep forgetting how good he used to be. Very solid. Some people just lose their touch or need to move on. But he will always be one of the hearts of Hockey town!
